Shut Down The War Machine, Oct. 26, Hartford
Join Queers Without Borders for a:
Picket in front of the Military Recruiting Station
233 Pearl Street, Hartford
Friday, October 26th
Noon - 3 PM
To the American people against war and imperialism:
After years of horrors (including torture and massacres of innocents), the U.S. government continues to wage its illegal and unjust wars - that have left millions of people dead, injured or displaced - in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even while this goes on, it moves towards war on a number of other countries. In response to this, a group of organizations and individuals has launched a campaign to create a day to Shut Down the War Machine. On Friday, October 26, 2007, workers and students will stay home, and people will avoid shopping. We will literally bring the war machine, which relies on all of us to function, to a screeching halt! We have a responsibility to shut down the war machine, because if we don’t, no one will!
Shut Down the War Machine has called on workers, students, activist and anybody against the occupation of Iraq to participate in a national “call in SICK of WAR”. The majority of Americans are against the invasion and occupation of Iraq and yet the Democrats and Republicans have chosen to approve funding, increased the number of troops and offer the American people no clear date of ending the occupation. Organizers are calling for No School, No Work, No Shopping!
Bring friends, family, picket signs, or get your organization to endorse the picket which will be part of a national event. Visit october26.org or shutdownthewarmachine.com for more information.
