What’s Wrong with this Picture?
I just learned of the following event being held at UCONN on World AIDS Day. Check out the Sponsoring Organizations and tell me WTF you see wrong with this picture. Perhaps it is just me and a few others but as a Tranny and also founder of CT TransAdvocacy, this really pisses me off! But perhaps us trannies should just say thank ya Master to our kind Gay and Lesbian organizations for willing to have a conference about INCLUSION!

Are these gays and lesbians really having a conference on inclusion with out Trannies included? Are they that bold? LMF should be ashamed of themselves for being one of the sponsors, but then again “the rich white gay and lesbian so called community.” Is an upset in order? I knew this was going to happen. So let’s bring in the Task Force and other honest people to counter act. I am also amazed that no one contacted Ct. Trans Advocay for input and a panelist. Trying to cover with a one view panel? If it comes down to it I will join a demo on that day.
Also I would think that we have enough to think about on World AIDS Day. AIDS is still not over, its all over the globe. Where is this group of people coming from?
That’s really fucked up. If I was around that day, I’d go up to Storrs with you and throw a pie or something. This shit has got to stop!!
This group of people is coming from a place where the over-riding goal is re-election.
Yes, the exclusion of CTAC from the conference is insulting but let’s not fool ourselves here: this is NOT a conference on inclusion. This IS a victory conference to showcase the freshman representative, Joe Courtney, and to ensure that well-heeled middle-class gays and lesbians contribute to his re-election campaign in 2 years.
The spin will be “We had to pass an exclusionary ENDA because we didn’t have the votes for inclusion.” Without the spin this translates into: 1) we are spineless in the face of bigotry; 2) we have no solid principles on which to stand; and 3) most importantly, by chopping up queer rights into tiny bits and pieces, we can keep coming back to the LGBT community for financial suppport to win re-election.
Case in point: this past week Courtney also visited the union that builds nuclear submarines at Electric Boat. He was there to celebrate the passage of an apporpriations bill that gave Bush more money than even HE, the war president, asked for (sic!) in order to build more subs. Even war hawks agree that with the demise of USSR, the government does not need these additional Cold War subs. The dems inserted the money in the bill so that Courtney would win re-election. That’s how it goes when getting re-elected is more important than voting on moral principles. Groton War Machine: $588 Million v. Trannys: 0.

Having just commemorated the lives of 17 trannys murdered in anti-trans hate crimes this past year, it seems to me that we have to resist this self-congratulatory anti-trans political re-election fest by people who claim to be our allies.
This picture needs some queers without political party borders.
I truly LOVE you Queers. Thank you for I wasn’t sure if i was just whacked in my feelings. I was outraged for so, so many reasons and still cannot think straight in anger at trannies and queers again being sold down the river, knives in our backs, while all good rich gays and lesbians spin. Spin the BS, Spin the lies, Spin the propaganda, Spin the love, Spin so much no one seems to know where the fuck they are standing these days!
Jeri you are so right. They really do spin it so that the bad seems good and the good bad. Around and around we go. But as you well know my long stand on HRC that anything with HRC on it should make us very watchful. And anyone who sleeps with that dog has fleas and I don’t want them and don’t think anyone else does. Hell its enough just to dust my house never mind to try to rid it of unwanted pests. But as Gert Stein said, “Each one as they may.” If you like a good itch go ahead.
Let’s all go to the home page look down on the side bar and listen to Adhamh Roland’s song, “Rich, White, Gay and Lesbian, So called community.”
We can’t let HRC or any of their sponsors here in CT. get away with this one.
