International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2007

Today poverty prevails as the gravest human rights challenge in the world. Combating poverty, deprivation, and exclusion is not a matter of charity, and it does not depend on how rich a country is. By tackling poverty as a matter of human rights obligation, the world will have a better chance of abolishing this scourge in our lifetime…poverty eradication is an achievable goal.

Louise Arbour ….UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

****MARCH TODAY IN HARTFORD****

Today 4:30 Gather at South Green. Step off 5:00 to march on ICE Headquarters, 450 Main Street. NO MORE RAIDS! We march to protest the arrests of 21 immigrants in Parkville, Hartford. We march to protest the arrests of immigrants everywhere in the US.

****OUR PEOPLE DENIED****

Let us remember that our Trans community here in Connecticut is still not protected by our Civil Rights Bill passed in 1991. Let us also remember the recent happenings in Washington that has denied our Trans community rights in the workplace by the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. All across America our people are not protected by civil rights legislation. Let us work for the day when we all have full rights. Enough of this..Some have some in someplaces, and some have none in others.
