Martin Luther King Day, 2008: A Day On, Not Off
One of the best ways to honor the life of Martin Luther King is simply to fight for racial and economic justice and to oppose on-going US militarism.
Whites, Blacks and Latinos use, sell and buy drugs throughout Connecticut but when it comes to incarceration for these crimes, people of color are 20 times more likely to be imprisoned! Too many lives have been destroyed by this racist system of justice. The war on drugs is a war on our communities. Take a stand today with working class black and latino families in New Haven at a rally for criminal justice reforms. (see calendar below.)
Martin Luther King worked to end poverty. Come to the kick-off press conference to lobby for a Connecticut Earned
Income Tax Credit on January 31 in Hartford. These credits provide desperately needed funds to working-class families.
Stop the racist federal immigration attacks on immigrants. Learn how to develop a rapid response network to assist
immigrants following a raid in your local metropolitan area. Come to the Immigrant Workers’ Rights Conference on
Saturday, February 2 in New Haven.
