Anti-War Student Conference April 12th.
Statewide Anti-War Student Conference & Rally @ Wesleyan University
WHEN: Saturday, April 12th — 10am - 5pm
WHERE: Wesleyan University — Middletown, CT
Campus Map
Students from across the state will be converging on Wesleyan University for the first COW Student Conference. The purpose of the conference is to train students with the tools they need to help End the War in Iraq and Bring the Troops Home.
The conference will contain a keynote speaker, followed by workshops dealing with issues ranging from Organizing 101 (i.e. running an effective meeting, media outreach, how to recruit new members, etc) to statewide campaigns (i.e. Campus Divestment, Truth in Recruitment, the Iraq Refugee Crisis, Iraq Veterans Against the War).
After the workshops are completed there will be a rally and march to cap a wonderful day of movement building.
The conference is the beginning of a vibrant student lead antiwar movement in CT. Student groups from dozens of colleges and high schools will come together for this historic event.
This event is being hosted by Students for Ending the War in Iraq, a Wesleyan Student group.

Scary? Maybe. Oh, COW! I hope this is on the up and up and not an attempt by COW to get a lot of young people to support the demonrats. We all know how COW loves to parade out the Demonrats and other mainstream people at their rallies. Anyone of us could go on and on about the anti-war one a few years back with the opening group singing about Jesus and another with the turncoat union offical up on the stage.
I am leery of this line in their press release, “to train students with the tools they need to end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home now.” Okay. But I haven’t seen much success by COW in that department. I got an idea. How about letting the students lead and tell us what is up and what is down. Maybe they can lead the anti-war movement away from this liberaldom. Maybe they can tip over the tables, air out and dust off the old liberals and lead us in a true charge against the system. War will not end with a Clinton or a Obama in the White House. (some of the Lamont people are in on this conference.) Oh those millionaires to lead the poor and working poor. This crap will never end if we give ourselves over to their vision no matter how nice these guys are on their wrong road.
This past March 19 a leaflet was passed to me about the student conference. On the leaflet it invited “everyone opposed to the war.” I hope that the old folks don’t put a damper on the students, unless of course the students who are involved with this are okay with old folks leading them, spoonful of sugaring them and training them to be respectable in the movement. The Keynote Speaker: Former Brig. General Janice Karpinski. Oh lord. Bang Bang Bomb Bomb but lordy she is okay for she has seen the light.
My friend Marat if he were living would say, “Careful young people.” Hope you can take what you need, disregard the rest, and move out from under it all and lead us to the new day.
P.S. I sent an e-mail to the Wesleyan students who are in on this asking some of the above. No response back as of 3 weeks later.
Oh I feel a posting coming on but might defer to Punk Pink.
