Queers Without Borders Meeting. Come OUT, Come OUT
| August 17, 2008 | ||
| 5:00 pm | to | 7:30 pm |
Queers Without Borders will hold a public meeting on Sunday August 17th, 2008. The meeting will begin at 5:00 PM. Anyone interested in joining with us as we build a multi-issue Queer Movement is invited to attend. The meeting will be held at MCC in the Parish House of the Church of the Good Shepherd, 155 Wyllys Street in Hartford. Directions here. Thanks to pastor George Chien of MCC for use of the space.
Items so far for our discussion include: Remember bring whatever you would like to discuss.
1.Movies and discussions. Our first showing will be the film, “OUT RAGE 69″. We have seen shorts of this film recently on QWB. The movie will be followed by a discussion. (Is where we were, is where we are now?) Refreshments will be served.
2. QWB will be going into the print media with a publication shortly. Recognizing the need for a Queer Voice publication and the reality that not all people who we would like to reach have a computer we will try our hand at a publication. QWB will continue to join with all communities seeking justice, equality, peace and freedom and we invite other queers and our allies to come out and join us.
3. Other events that QWB will be sponsoring or joining to help make happen. (talk about a busy next 3 months) Please bring events that you have for our listings.
Queers Without Borders is a group of Queer Activists of all different political stripes working in many aspects of the peace, social justice, and equality movements. For some background information on QWB see here. This article was published in August 2007. And check out here. For a summary of what we have been doing politically out and about click here. This essay, “What we believe, Where we have been, Where are we going,” is an informative essay on some of the many events in coalition with other groups that we have participated in. Do come out to our meeting, let your voice be heard and let us Queers help to build the new day.

FYI - I'm scheduled to work during this meeting (despite my time-off request) and my chances of switching my schedule around doesn't look great, but I'm going to do my best to be present. If I can't be there, just know that I'm definitely there in spirit, and I intend to support QWB as much as I possibly can.
Switched shifts - Yay I'll be there! May need a ride though…
