The Guerrilla Girls, an anonymous group of women who call themselves the conscience of the art world, do battle against sexism and racism in the art world with “facts, humor and fake fur.” Armed with statistics about the exclusionary exhibition and editorial practices of museums, galleries, art magazines, critics and curators, these masked avengers began their war against discrimination by plastering the streets of SoHo with posters. In less than a decade they have gained international recognition, been invited to speak in numerous locations, and made various television and radio appearances in the United States, Europe, Canada, South America, and Australia. They became the subject of an award-winning documentary film, Guerrillas in Our Midst, and the publication of their book Confessions of the Guerrilla Girls.
WELCOME GUERRILLA GIRLS

Thanks for this info! <i>Too Shy to Stop</i> writer Christine Barrett just wrote a piece about Frida Kahlo's visit to Salem College. You can read the full article <a href="http://tooshytostop.wordpress.com/2008/11/20/frida-kahlo-thinks-male-dominated-museums-are-bananas/">here</a>.
