Socialist Party Candidates will have write-in status in CT.
Anouncement from Todd Vachon, Chairman of the Socialist Party of CT.

I’m writing today to announce the Socialist Party candidates that will have write-in status for the November 4th elections in Connecticut . Brian Moore and Stewart Alexander are the SPUSA candidates for President and Vice President respectively. You can learn more about these candidates and their campaigns at http://www.votesocialist.org/ and http://www.votebrianmoore.com/.
Todd Vachon will also have write-in status as a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 2. You can learn more about this campaign at http://www.votevachon.com/.
Despite tireless efforts by dedicated volunteers we were denied access to the ballot this year due to the prohibitive laws set in place by the two-party monopoly. Falling just short of the necessary number of petition signatures, we decided to continue forward with a write-in campaign. We feel that it is important to give progressives, Socialists and Marxists alike an option that they can conscionably vote for.
The Socialist Party has a rich history of electoral politics in The United States dating back to it’s formation in 1901. On the National level Eugene Debs and Norman Thomas captured the hearts and minds of millions of working class Americans who understood the injustice of a capitalist economy. In Connecticut we had the honor of electing Mr. Jasper McLevy mayor of Bridgeport among many other mayors, city councel members, etc . No small testament to perseverance, Mr. McLevy began running for mayor in 1901 and ran in every election until he finally won in 1933, along with a Socialist majority on the board of Aldermen. McLevy was re-elected 11 times and ran a very competitive campaign for governor of Connecticut in 1938.
It is in this spirit of struggle for justice, equality and socialism that we are pleased to share the attached campaign flyer with you in hope that you might help by circulating and spreading the word.
Re-Educate. Activate. Overcome.
In Peace & Solidarity,
Todd Vachon

The CT ballot laws used to say that in order to write in a candidate for president you had to actually write the names of the "electors" — that is, the individuals who were technically being elected to the Electoral College, who in turn cast their votes for president. Has this changed? If not, then in order for the Secretary of State's office to count write in ballots you would have to have seven "electors" and they would all have to be written in on the ballot.
Good question Peter. I will check this out and report back. This should be good if I call the Secretary of States Office. I will also send the question to Todd.
Man, if that is the case Peter they sure like to put up road blocks to preserve the evil twins rule.
I checked with the Secretary of State's Office and spoke to a staff attorney named Ted Bromley. Atty. Bromley said that one only needs to write in the names of the candidates. He also stated that the candidates need 7 electors registered with the office, which I remember the Socialist Party did awhile back when they first began collecting signatures. So they should be okay for people to vote for.
Today I will check the Greens and see if they are write-in also.
This in from Todd.

I received this question from a voter who would like to vote for Brian Moore/Stewart Alexander (when they are eligible)
'The CT ballot laws used to say that in order to write in a candidate for president you had to actually write the names of the 'electors' — that is, the individuals who were technically being elected to the Electoral College, who in turn cast their votes for president. Could you provide the answer for us.'
Thanks,
