Obama-Biden transition team declares that it will not discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity
Currently, it is not illegal under federal law for an employer to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
But over at the Connecticut Employment Law Blog, Attorney Dan Schwartz has pointed out that the “jobs” page that has been set up for the incoming Obama administration states:
“The Obama-Biden Transition Project does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other basis of discrimination prohibited by law.”

Thanks for the hat tip. Change isn't coming…It's already here.
Thanks for posting Peter. Fortunately they are echoing the hiring policy currently in place by many legislators in DC (even Rick Santorum for a few days), thanks to the hard work of GPAC, many trans lobbyists, organizations and allies. However, I would point folks to an even more promising statement by the Obama campaign around an Inclusive ENDA (Barney Frank, please take notice). btw, I am not sure if it is a mistake or what but they even metion Gender Expression, which has not been in the ENDA dialogue over the last few years:
Barack Obama will combat employment discrimination:
Obama and Biden will work to overturn the Supreme Court's recent ruling that curtails women’s and racial minorities' ability to challenge pay discrimination. They will also pass the Fair Pay Act to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
Let's hope that it all doesn't get watered down and sugarized to make it all easy to swallow and we again end up with the short end of the stick. You know how things go when in the hands of the folks in DC. It would be nice to believe in it all for a change.
