Bash Back Raises Hell at Anti-Queer Mega Church!!
Re-posted from Bash Back News!
The Mount Hope Church is a deplorable, anti-queer mega-church in Lansing, Michigan. The church works to institutionalize transphobia and homophobia through several repulsive projects including organized “ex-gay” conferences and so-called “hell houses”, which depict queers, trannies and womyn who seek abortions as the horrors. Mt. Hope is complicit in the repression of queers in Michigan and beyond.
Bash Back! ain’t down with that. And so on Sunday November 9th, about thirty radical queers from Lansing, Chicago, Memphis and Milwaukee disrupted the church’s most well-attended sermon.
At noon, a small group of folks dressed in pink and black, equipped with a megaphone, black flags, picket signs and an upside-down pink cross began demonstrating outside the church. The group was extremely loud and wildly offensive.
The demonstration drew a majority of Mount Hope’s security staff outside to watch them.
Meanwhile, with the guards pre-occupied by the distraction, over a dozen queers had put on their Sunday-best and infiltrated the church’s congregation. At the signal that the guards had been lured outside, the infiltrators sprung into action.
A group stood up, declared themselves fags, and began screaming loudly. Upon hearing the loud interruption, other affinity groups went into action. A team that had been hiding under the pews in the closed-off balcony dropped a banner and pulled back the curtains to reveal “IT’S OKAY TO BE GAY! BASH BACK!”. Another group threw over a thousand fliers to the entirety of the congregation. The fire alarm was pulled. Queers began making out in front of the pastor. And within a matter of minutes, everyone had evaded the guards and made their escapes.
Bash Back! operatives, still hidden among the congregation observed a person screaming that Satan had come to Mount Hope, that the end was here, that the queers were everywhere. She then began speaking tongues. The dumbfounded pastor, after regaining his composure, went on to speak of the of decadent, depraved wolves that menace his flock of sheep.
Let it be known: So long as bigots kill us in the streets, this pack of wolves will continue to BASH BACK!
We are everywhere.

This is fucking wonderful, Richard. Good eye!
Check out the Technorati Queer. Lots of from the other side reports.
How sad that people think it useful to abridge another’s freedom to worship to make a political point
How sad that people think that blatant discrimination and oppression can be called "freedom to worship".
I think that it is very sad that the beatings and murder of lgbt people which is sparked by anti-lgbt rhetoric spewed forth by churches is tolerated by many. These churches and devilish preachers are criminals just as much as those who cut me or my people with a knife, shoot us with a gun or stomp us to death. This Mega church, has gotten off lightly as far as I am concerned.
Hey leo what about my freedom to be myself, to live.
Seems Bash Back! has upset a number of liberals and conservatives alike. Perhaps the most disturbing excerpt I read from the Technorati feeds (thanks, Richard!):"If the Christians really were as “radical right-wing” as the leftists make them out to be, the North Star Center would be burned to the ground by now, and the Christians would have dragged the degenerates out of the church and beat them in a way that would make Matthew Shepard’s beating appear insignificant by comparison.According to one Bible story, Jesus threw the moneychangers out of the temple. Christians should follow His example when it comes to leftists in their churches."It's difficult for me to understand why anyone would suggest we tolerate these people or describe disruptions of their bigotry as treading in the "freedom of speech" chimera.
If anything this speech of the Mega Church, and here lets not let the Catholics, Baptists, Mormons, Evangelicals off the hook, is pure hate speech usually disguised as "We love you, we don't hate you." or the old stand by "Love the sinner, hate the sin." One: I don't want their love, and two: I am not a sinner.
They all are pure creeps as far as I am concerned and I guess they have to be taught to keep their church out of my life. This religious tyranny like straight tyranny is something to be fought by any means necessary.
Disrupting a religious institution or ceremony is no more inappropriate than disrupting a political event. If the people holding it are using the institution to detrimentally influence society, then they are fair game, period. Should they have the right to disrupt our functions? They've got the right to try, but they should keep in mind that some of us don't accept any of this "turn the other cheek" stuff, and we also don't depend on the cops to defend ourselves.
FIGHT THE RIGHT! QUEER INSURRECTION!

Those poor kids are really under attack by local, liberal LGBT groups. Anyone interested in drafting a letter of support or signing on if I put one together? Any chance of getting this passed by the group so we can send from QWB? Do we have a process for that?
Getting change takes many forms. I have seen over the years that the young radicals kick down the doors and everyone else goes through finally. I will sign on in support. We would have to bring this up with the core group from QWB before signing on under the groups name. Of course there is always *for identification purposes only.
Please begin drafting the letter of support, e-mail it around and see what comes up. Thanks for doing this.
For those to young check it out for those old remember ACT UP in St. Pats.

That's a good comparison and mind this - at the time every gay man's interests were tied into what happened with AIDS and AIDS/safe sex education. There were no effective drugs for poor or rich PWAs . Now that the urgency isn't there for those with the buffer of wealth to comfort themselves, I guess some people's minds have changed, huh?

They are very much involved in political speech, action etc. Everyone and their deceased greatgrand knows what their money goes to after this past week. That makes everything they do a political rally. And if their "churches" can only handle what they call God's people under incredibly limited circumstances they should be called on that bullshit. Protestantism is the most prominent religion in this country and was kicked off by another denomination being publicly called on their bullshit, and we all know the primary school stories on why the Puritans came here. IT'S AN AMERICAN TRADITION FOLKS; STOP BEING SO UNPATRIOTIC.
USA! USA! USA!
Rah Rah! Hey, anyone else notice how infected with hyperbolic crap technorati has become? War on Christians? Churches on edge? Oh my, the revolution must be here, although I couldn't tell any other way …
I think this is brilliant! Well done! To leo - I believe that these activists were having a spiritual moment themselves. Be happy for them!
